Hunt for Red October
Overview
The Hunt for Red October is a 1990 action thriller film directed by John McTiernan, based on the 1984 novel by Tom Clancy. The film stars Sean Connery as Captain Marko Ramius, a Soviet submarine commander who is defecting to the United States with his new, stealth submarine, the Red October. The film follows the cat-and-mouse game between the Soviet and American navies as they try to find the Red October. The film also stars Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst who is trying to figure out Ramius's intentions. The Hunt for Red October was a massive critical and commercial success, earning over $200 million worldwide. It won an Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing. It is the first film in the Jack Ryan film series.
