Friends is a 1994 sitcom television series created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman for NBC. The series is one of the most popular and beloved sitcoms of all time. The series follows six friends in their 20s and 30s living in Manhattan: Monica Geller (Courteney Cox), a competitive, obsessive chef; Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), a fashion-conscious, spoiled heiress; Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), an eccentric, quirky masseuse; Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), a sweet, dim-witted actor; Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), a sarcastic, witty data processor; and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), a paleontologist. The series is famous for its catchphrases ("How you doin'?"), its iconic moments (the "we were on a break" debate), and its memorable guest stars. The series is set primarily in Monica and Rachel's apartment, and in the Central Perk coffee shop. Friends was a massive ratings success, and it became a cultural phenomenon. The series won six Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The series finale, "The Last One," was one of the most-watched television episodes in history.
