Captain America: Civil War
Overview
Captain America: Civil War is a 2016 superhero film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the 13th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film follows the conflict between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) over the Sokovia Accords, a government agreement that would put the Avengers under UN control. Captain America believes that the Avengers should remain independent, while Iron Man believes that they need oversight. The film introduces new heroes: Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), the king of Wakanda; and Spider-Man (Tom Holland), a teenage superhero from Queens. The film also features the return of the villainous Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), who manipulates the heroes into fighting each other. The film culminates in a spectacular airport battle between Team Cap (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man) and Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Widow, Spider-Man, War Machine, Vision, and Black Panther). The film ends with Captain America and Bucky defeating Iron Man, and Captain America abandoning his shield. Captain America: Civil War was a critical and commercial success, earning over $1.1 billion worldwide. The film was praised for its action sequences, its performances, and its complex, morally ambiguous storyline. It is widely considered one of the best films in the MCU.
