Bottoms
Overview
Bottoms is a 2023 high school comedy film directed by Emma Seligman, starring Rachel Sennott as PJ and Ayo Edebiri as Josie, two unpopular, queer high school students who start a fight club to get with their cheerleader crushes. The film is a dark, absurdist, and violent satire of high school movies. PJ and Josie are losers. They are bullied, ignored, and desperate. They start a "self-defense club" for girls, which is really an excuse to get close to the cheerleaders. The club becomes a fight club, and the girls learn to fight back against their bullies. The film was a critical success, praised for its performances, its writing, and its unique, offbeat humor.
